I joined another guild not that long ago – the Sheep Creek Weavers and Fibre Artists Guild is full of amazing and inspiring women. (I’m trying very hard not to make eye contact with looms, because I don’t think we’ve the floor space anywhere.*) They host an Annual Show & Sale, where any number of incredible items are available for sale. There’s also a tea, and some great baskets that are raffled off. There’s no admission charged, and the lion’s share of the sale goes directly to the artist (a very small portion goes to the Guild, which in turns goes to workshops and education). Their website is here: http://www.sheepcreekweavers.ca/index.php .
The sale is this Saturday, Oct 22, 10-4 at the Millarville Racetrack Hall; which is located 20 minutes SW of Calgary, Alberta near the intersection of Highways 22 and 549E, and there will be signs up. (Here’s a map: http://www.millarvilleracetrack.com/map/index.html )
I’m delighted to be taking part; while I don’t weave and I’m not offering any of my knitting for sale, there will be hard copies of my knitting patterns, and some of the rings I’ve been making. They feature lead-free Swarovski crystal, in a silver-plated adjustable ring.
Here’s a collection of rings that I recently completed and sent off to Saskatchewan… just to whet your appetite for sparkle!
(A lot of these were special requests; there are round, oval and square rings and two styles of pendants to look forward to!)
*I’m also not sure if the man has the patience to live alongside another fiber hobby, either…
